  • Difficult Architecture Adaptation

    The architectures of applications on the cloud are complex. DR technologies or products must adapt to different architectures. In addition, distributed systems and databases have high DR technology requirements.

  • High DR Requirement

    Enterprise applications are deployed on the cloud and therefore have high DR requirements. Specifically, they require that services can quickly restore if an accident occurs (RPO = 0).

  • Inconvenient DR Drill

    On-cloud DR lacks orchestration drills. Traditional manual drills take a long time, and involve both hardware and software, which is very inconvenient.

  • Strict DR Reliability Requirement

    On-cloud applications demand cross-region or even 2 site 3 DC DR capabilities to prevent huge losses caused by natural disasters such as typhoons and earthquakes.

Typical Scenarios

  • Cross-AZ DR

  • Cross-Region DR

  • On-Cloud 2 Site 3 DC DR

Cross-AZ DR

Cross-AZ DR

The DR system is deployed in two AZs in the same region. Synchronous replication at the storage layer is used to provide DR protection between AZs. When the AZ where the production system is located becomes faulty, services can be switched to the DR system with only a few clicks.

RPO = 0
RPO = 0, one-click switchover, 99.999999999% reliability (11 nines)

Low costs
No third-party DR software is required. When the production system is running properly, the compute resources in the DR system do not need to start. The DR resources are paid per use. All of these factors effectively reduce costs.

Cross-Region DR

Cross-Region DR

When the production system becomes faulty, services switch rapidly to the DR system. The production and DR systems are deployed in different regions, which effectively prevents system failures due to regional disasters and thereby provides higher reliability.

High reliability
Production and DR systems in different regions, providing higher reliability.

Low costs
When the production system is running properly, the DR system does not need to start, which reduces costs.

On-Cloud 2 Site 3 DC DR

On-Cloud 2 Site 3 DC DR

Aggregates cross-AZ synchronous replication and cross-region OBS capabilities to effectively cope with large-scale regional disasters, thereby improving data reliability and service continuity.

RPO = 0
RPO = 0, one-click switchover, eleven nines data durability

High reliability

Production and DR systems are in different regions, providing higher reliability.

Drills at any time

Drills are performed as required, which does not affect the production service system.

Solution Advantages

  • High Reliability

    Provides cross-AZ DR with RPO = 0. Supports on-cloud 2 site 3 DC DR to help customers cope with system failures caused by regional disasters.

  • Low Costs

    Does not require third-party DR software. When the production system is running properly, the DR system does not need to start its compute resources, which effectively reduces costs.

  • Convenient Drill Operations

    Provides one-click drills and graphic operations. Resources are elastically used and released after the drill is complete.

  • Easy to Adapt

    The storage layer DR does not depend on the system architecture and therefore does not need to adapt to the application systems, which makes the solution simple.

Recommended Services

  • Storage Disaster Recovery Service
    Different technologies such as cache acceleration and redundancy, stable low-latency performance, and exclusive physical resource pools are used to meet security and monitoring requirements.
  • Dedicated Computing Cluster
    Provides tenants with exclusive access to their own compute resource pools and physically isolates them from each other, meeting requirements for specific performance, business applications, and security compliance.
  • Dedicated Distributed Storage Service
    Provides tenants with exclusive access to their own storage resource pools. With data redundancy and cache acceleration technologies, DSS delivers highly reliable, durable, low-latency, and stable storage resources.

Success Stories

Success Stories

  • With multi-AZ deployment, intra-city active-active DR, remote DR assurance, and visualized DR GUI, Huawei helped Vmall enhance service availability and simplified O&M. Vmall can now easily cope with demand during flash sales, hacker attacks, and high O&M costs.
  • Local IDC+Hybrid Cloud Disaster Recovery from Huawei reduced DR costs and shortened the project construction period. With this solution, BRC can now implement cross-AZ DR and perform DR drills at any time.
